Courte biographie
AUTHOR Bob Doerr grew up in a military family, attended the Air Force Academy, and then had a career of his own in the Air Force. It was a life style that had him moving every three or four years, but also one that exposed him to the people and cultures of numerous countries in Asia and Europe and to most of these United States. In the Air Force, Bob specialized in criminal investigations and counterintelligence, gaining significant insight to the worlds of crime, espionage and terrorism, which he uses to provide authentic details in his novels about how law enforcement agencies do their work.

No One Else to Kill is book 5 of the Jim West Mysteries. Since this was my first Jim West book, I expected to feel as though I was missing something. I am pleased to say that I was not, and this is definitely a stand-alone book.

Jim West travels to a remote hunting lodge in New Mexico with the intent of meeting up with an old friend to do some therapeutic hiking. The friend is a no-show, but before he can head for home a murder occurs at the lodge. Not yet twenty four hours later, another murder occurs. While Jim could have been one of the suspects, the police recognize his problem solving talents and enlist his help in solving the crime. Although he wants no part of it, he agrees to be their man on the inside and keep his eyes on everyone.

Jim is a likable character, not really wanting to get involved, but realizing his unique talents and opportunity to be among the suspects. We are introduced to a variety of characters and suspects at the lodge. Things get out of control and brought back to an exciting conclusion. It is an interesting story with a variety of possible suspects.

No One Else to Kill won First Runner-Up in the Commercial Fiction category for the 2013 Eric Hoffer Award.

It started out as a plan: vacation at a mountain resort with an old friend to reminisce and try to help him with some “issues” he’s having. Well, you know what they say about good intentions. Jim West’s friend bales on him and just when he has decided to leave the killing begins.
A group of corporate types has rented some of the lodge for their “teambuilding” project – something they do every year. Jim even had coffee with the owner of the company. Seemed like a nice enough guy; but someone killed him anyhow. Suspects abound in this mystery with an excellent cast and better plot.
Jim does his best but the bodies are beginning to pile up and the Lodge may have to close. Can he figure out who and why before there’s literally “No One Else to Kill?” This is book five in the Jim West series which is great except now I have to go find the other four because I need to read they whole thing! Great novel for mystery buffs.

More a thriller than a mystery, this book will have you ducking and wincing at every turn as you follow Jim West's investigation into the disappearance of his friends' daughter, as he is violently met by nearly every suspect. Having small-town culture down to a science, the characters are easy to understand. Mix in a little romantic interest and there's something for everyone to enjoy in this book.

Overall, an entertaining and quick read. The author needs to look at getting a different editor, however, as punctuation and grammar mistakes throughout were a little distracting.… (plus d'informations)
