Courte biographie
Joanne Dobson teaches English at Fordham University. Her first Professor Karen Pelletier academic mystery, Quieter Than Sleep (1997), was an Agatha nominee, of which Publisher's Weekly said: "Deftly balancing its literary and mystery elements, Dobson's debut sparkles with wit and insight." It was followed by The Northbury Papers (1998), The Raven and the Nightingale (1999), and Cold and Pure and Very Dead (2000).
In her scholarly work, Professor Dobson has concentrated on the recovery of the neglected literature of nineteenth-century American women writers. Professor Dobson is a founding editor of Legacy: A Journal of American Women Writers and a general editor of the Rutgers American Women Writers reprint series.

She and her husband live in the New York City area and have three grown children.

The plot was adequate.I found the protagonist a bit irritating, particularly whenever she was talking with her police officer boyfriend. trouble the dog is what upped it to three stars

Quieter than Sleep. Joanne Dobson. 1997. Karen is a professor at a small elite college in Massachusetts whose specialty is Emily Dickenson. Her colleague, the obnoxious Randy Astin-Berger, shares her interest in Dickenson. When Karen discovers Astin-Berger’s body strangled with his own necktie, and she realizes she is a suspect, Karen decides that she must identify the murderer. The author is an English professor who knows her way around the world of academia. Not sure how many Karen Pelletier mysteries she has written, but they are fun to read.… (plus d'informations)

I've enjoyed her past mysteries, with their academic setting. But this one is pretty light, even for a light mystery...
