This book has a narrow focus but if you are interested in particular archaeological sites sites from north America which show the earliest habitation of the continent then it is for you. Each site is described methodically telling which culture or group it is linked to, the scientists who worked on it, the artifacts recovered and what those artifacts say about early people. There is a straight forward discussion of the clovis first theory and a rebuttal of it through sites like Monte Verde. By approaching each sites material in the same way the text becomes somewhat repetitive if you read it from cover to cover but the information is accurate complete. There are other books which take a more narrative approach and others which are more theoretical but less factual so if you just want the straight talk on over 50 sites then you wont be disappointed.
