The Low-Cholesterol Cookbook for Two: 100 Perfectly Portioned Recipes for Better Heart Health
When I saw the cover of this book I knew it was one that I really wanted to read because of what it stated on the cover: low cholesterol and it's for two people, portion recipes. This is just going to be perfect for our family of two.
There is SO much to this book, the details it covers, what a treasure!
The book starts out with the dedication and then a table of contents where the recipes are broken up into different kinds of meals.
The introduction is about low cholesterol cooking for two. Has very colorful photographs at the beginning of each and every chapter.
Intro talks about important subjects: your cholesterol and how you can regulate it with diet and exercise and sleep.
There are all kinds of suggestions here even family history and also with charts that states what your cholesterol should be at what age what it should be for HDL as well.
Like that the words you could actually see them without struggling, words and sections are not crunched on the pages.
There's several charts to help along with explanations, foods you should be eating and foods you should not be eating.
Even lists of things you should have in your kitchen.
Each recipe chapter starts with the category name and then it lists the different recipes that are included and the page numbers.
Each recipe starts with a title, prep time and cook time and a brief summary of the dish. There are also little color coded squares to the left that tell you what kind of diet this is suitable for.
Included also are a listing of ingredients and you should be able to substitute for your healthier dietary needs: low-fat, low-sugar and low sodium and fresh vs canned items.
Directions follow and it also has substitutions at the bottom.
There is a listing of some nutrient information per serving: calories, total fat, saturated fat, cholesterol, sodium, total carbs, fiber, sugar and protein.
There are no pictures of the finished items
There are a lot of recipes with wide variety. Like seeing there are also smoothies recipes with great combinations of different foods that you never think to put together.
Recipes also for different kinds of meats as well and desserts.
Each recipe starts at the top of a new page. Feature I really like about this book is at the very end there is a section for sauces and dressings and staples.
We actually have a salad every night so we have to be very careful on our toppings/dressings.
I'd like to try some of the ones in here as they look very healthy for us with our dietary needs.
At the very there are measurement conversion chart showing u.s., metric, Fahrenheit and Celsius.
There is also a section on references with many different books are noted so you can get your own copy.
A recipe index is also listed at the very end along with a book index.
I also like the size of the book: it's one that's 9 x 7 and it will lay flat if you put it up on your shelf or into your recipe holder from under a kitchen cabinet.
Also has acknowledgments at the very end along with about the authors with their color photos.
I wish every recipe had a picture.
I like the very healthy things in here and I love that is just for two people. You don't have to guess or end up with enough leftovers for weeks.
A KEEPER!
I received this review copy from The Callisto Publisher's Club and this is my honest opinion.
