It has a cool set up (ancient curse, doomed class reunion, etc) and there is a ton of gory slasher scenes, but ultimately it feels repetitive and cliche.

Good god, what a steaming pile of crap. The art was a touch better than the 8-issue ongoing series, but the story? What a joke.

Story pitch: Hey, I wanna write a story that would come chronologically just before the first book, The Man of Bronze.

Sounds good.

Yeah, and it'll have all the aides in there too, but only for a bit, because I want Doc to run off by himself for an adventure.

So, it's not going to be like all the other Doc Savage adventures where the aides are half the fun?

No.

Sounds good.

And, I'm gonna have him meet up with this woman that he has...well, it's not really a relationship, it's more of an occasional booty call.

So, you're going to also ignore all that stuff about Doc staying away from women?

Yeah.

So, this really isn't a Doc Savage story, except in name?

Yeah.

Sounds good. Let's give you extra pages and publish it as an annual!

Fucksakes.

The Boxcar Children Graphic Novels by Shannon Eric Denton are based on Gertrude Chandler Warner's Boxcar Children series. She used to spend a lot of time watching trains go by her home and wondered what it would be like to live in a caboose or freight car. This is where the idea came from for the book The Boxcar Children that was published in 1942. The Alden children, Henry, Jessie, Violet, and Benny are a family. They are orphans who want to stay together. They try to make it on their own so they can stay together. On a stormy night, the Alden children find an old red boxcar where they can be safe and warm. The children make the boxcar their home. Elementary school children from grade three and up would enjoy this book that is easy and fun to read. The Alden children are very independent and go on their adventures with little adult supervision. Elementary school children like the idea of being independent.… (plus d'informations)

This story of four orphans who don't want to live with their grandpa so they run away and live in a train boxcar. This is based upon the classic series by Gertrude Chandler Warner. This is a great adaptation for students who don't enjoy normal chapter books. I would utilize this with my E.L.L. students because I believe it would help them build their literacy skills with the aid of the pictures. I also love that this series is revamped for a new generation of readers!
