A book for the professional with detailed explanations that will give you real understanding on the subject. Also, plenty of excellent resources to follow. And finally, well written with a crystal clear structure, features that alas, are rare in this kind of literature.
Although much of the material from the 6.5 book was simply updated to produce this book, it remains a classic text for anyone seeking a deep understanding of the popular MS variant of the SQL language and supporting MS platform. There is a lot of good history here covering MS's early relationships with Sybase and IBM, and how the product evolved into its current incarnation.
