Fantastic aliens. Really creepy bad guys. Love the main characters!

This is one of the best science fiction novels with aliens I've ever read, specifically because each race is distinct, and also specifically because Earth is new to the Alliance, and one of our MCs, Amir Tarkos, is part of the 'special ops' core, and human. And good at his job. The other MC, the Sussurat, is intriguing. And the dangers they're sent into kept me reading the last several chapters all today. This is an ongoing story, mind you. This one sets the stage, and yes I will read the next one.

The only part that wasn't so good is Tarkos's declaration near the end, to another person, of his reasons for leaping toward danger. It was rather silly. Maybe I'll be proved wrong later, we'll see.

Exemplary second book, in a science fiction series rich with aliens in contrast to Tarkos the sole Human Harmonizer. There are just enough other points of view to keep it very interesting as the Alliance gears up to fight the ancient enemy they'd thought (hoped) extinct.

On to #3!

This is a seriously impressive science fiction series. It just keeps getting better and better. The plot, the characters - Tarkos's declaration at the end of this one was gorgeous. The only flaw I found was when Bria is compared to a tiger - when it was supposedly from her point of view. It's minor in relation to the many challenges she and Tarkos confront while trying to do the right thing in each moment.

If you enjoy actual heroism, this series is for you, too.

Many things happen, Tarkos is scolded and does the first stupid thing I've seen so far, and there are So Many Balls In the Air! Just FYI, you will want Earthfall immediately upon finishing this part of the story. *nips off to buy it*
