Courte biographie
He graduated from Hope College in Holland, Michigan, and the University of Illinois College of Medicine.

In 1914 he married and soon became a successful physician in Western Michigan.

When Dr. De Haan got the call to preach the Gospel, he gave up his medical practice and completed training at Western Theological Seminary in Holland, Michigan.

He pastored two churches in Grand Rapids which grew rapidly under his forceful preaching and his ability to make Bible truth simple and easily understood.

Then he began large Bible classes; and in 1938, as an outgrowth of one of these classes in Detroit, the Lord led in the expansion of this teaching by means of radio. The Radio Bible Class grew rapidly and was soon on two national networks.

In more than a quarter of a century, Dr. De Haan saw the broadcast grow from a local venture on a fifty-watt station to a ministry of more than 600 selected stations around the world. During those years he spoke at many Bible conferences and wrote 25 books and numerous booklets. He also edited and published a monthly devotional guide, "Our Daily Bread."

Wonderful!! This has challenged my thinking and increased my knowledge. I have literally sat with mouth wide open and with tears flowing uncontrollably.

Although suffering is not enjoyable, we all experience it at one time or another. God uses suffering to help us and to help us help others. The book, Broken Things, by M.R. DeHaan “brings comfort and encouragement to those who seek reasons for their suffering.” This book can be found on the library shelves under the number 242/DEH.

The Chemistry of the Blood by Dr. DeHaan is an unusual and moving collection of sermons tying the science behind blood and other aspects of the material world with Biblical revelation. Dr. DeHaan writes clearly about both technical topics and the Bible, so that a novice in either may understand him. He teaches and preaches Christianity so that all may understand it. I recommend this book, although some of the science is outdated since the book was written in 1943. Also some of the Biblical interpretations and applications may not be agreed to by everyone; but these are twigs, minor issues, compared to the trunk of the tree, Jesus Christ.… (plus d'informations)

Twenty-Two Simple Studies in Paul's Teachings of Law and Grace.
This is a first edition hardback, published by Radio Bible Class, signed by M. R. DeHaan and dedicated to William L. Pettingill who first introduced him to the blessed truth of grace and freedom from the law.
M. R. DeHaan shares everything he was taught by his mentor and this book comes alive with the grace we have been brought into.

Paul's only concern was for the well being of the believer and the glory of Christ.

Gal 3:2 This only would I learn of you, Received ye the Spirit by the works of the law, or by the hearing of faith?

It seems that this is what gripped W. L. Pettingill, it is what he passed on to M. R. DeHaan and this is what he passes on to us.

We are all the richer and Christ is glorified every step of the way.
