12. Slim Evans and his Horse Lightning by Graham M. Dean (read in 1936 or 1937) Before I read this book I was entranced by the Rover Boys books and said I wanted such a book for Christmas. Of course Rover Boys books were not being sold any more so Santa Claus could not give me one for Christmas, and I got this book instead. This must have been in 1936 or 1937. I was disappointed when I saw the book because it was not a Rover Boys book but I read it and liked it very much. It taught me that there are good books that are not Rover Boys. (When I was older I came to realize that Rover Boys are very inferior books, almost unreadable by any person knowledgeable as to good writing.)… (plus d'informations)
