Give yourself a couple of hours of uninterrupted time, because once you start this book, you are not going to want to put it down until you are done. I tried, but came right back to it. This is a fast paced, intense story that has a great romantic side to it. Wendy Davy never fails to impress me with her writing skills.

Cara Dalton finds herself being dragged by her brother to a remote island off the coast by her brother, to be kept safe by a friend, Gage McKenna (who is recovering from a very bad leg injury). Neither Cara nor Gage are happy with this situation. Cara is finding out her brother has been involved in something other than "mission" work and her life is now at risk. Gage is finding out that being alone and feeling sorry for himself doesn't compare to protecting feisty little Cara. Can they all survive the deadly cartel when their remote location is discovered.

Thoroughly enjoyed myself reading this story. It was a page turner and the chemistry between Cara and Gage was just right. I also liked how the story kept switching from them, to the situation in South America where Cara's brother Jonas was. This can easily be read in an evening, so get yourself curled up on the couch and get ready to enjoy!

Title: You Can’t Hide
Author: Wendy Davy
Pages: 168
Year: 2013
Publisher: White Rose Publishing
This particular suspense thriller is set in contemporary East Coast United States and the country of Columbia. The two main characters are DEA agent Gage McKenna and librarian Cara Dalton.
Cara Dalton just wanted to surprise her brother by showing up in Columbia to help with his mission trip. What she got for her trouble was a drug lord wanting her dead. She didn’t see the murder, but the drug lord thinks she did. Her brother contacts his partner, Gage, to keep his sister safe while he returns to Columbia to take down the drug lord. Cara wants no part of being stranded on a barrier island with a grumpy guard. She soon discovers her brother was not on a missionary trip, but on a DEA mission. She had no idea what her brother did for a living. Now, she must deal with a drug lord out to kill her, her brother on a dangerous mission to capture him, and her growing feelings for her guard. It’s a good thing she knows God has got her future under control.
Gage McKenna is on medical leave after suffering a debilitating injury at the hands of a torturous drug lord, the same one chasing Cara. He likes his life the way it is…secluded and alone. Cara disrupts his life, but she also brings him back to the land of the living by opening his heart up to let her in. Gage will do anything to keep her safe, but how can he when his leg hinders his efforts? How can God let this happen when all Gage ever wanted to do was help people? Does God even care about him? While Gage has to keep constant watch for the drug lord to keep Cara safe, he also must wrestle with his new found feelings for her and his anger at God.
I thought this was a really good story, but it was too short. Due to the brevity, the characters really didn’t have time to develop and engage readers. The plot was good and the story flowed well. There was plenty of action, and a romance as well. The story could have been so much more satisfying if it were longer. It seemed everything happened too quickly, and the romance between the two main characters seemed unrealistic in its’ depth to the shortness of their acquaintance. I did like how Cara was not afraid to share her faith. I would enjoy reading a full length novel by this author.
My rating is 3.5 stars.

Cara Dalton has never done anything adventurous in her life until she decides to surprise her brother by joining him in Columbia. Now her life is in danger because a ruthless drug runner believes she witnessed a murder. Her brother entrusts Cara to his best friend and partner, Gage McKenna. Gage is an undercover agent who is recovering from a life-changing injury inflicted on him by the same man who is after Cara. Knowing the danger she's in, Gage reluctantly agrees to keep her safe at his remote island home. They both find themselves not only fighting a growing attraction for each other but also fighting the ruthless drug runner who will stop at nothing to silence them both!

You Can't Hide had me hooked from the very beginning and didn't let me go until the last page was turned. It was like watching an intense movie where you find yourself wringing your hands and taking quick breaths. All the characters were fully fleshed out, including the ruthless drug runner. Gage is a tough yet gentle, closed-off hero. Cara is a sweet heroine who also has a bit of sass. It made for a wonderful combination and I loved the chemistry between them. I also liked how the author showed that even though bad stuff happens to us, God is still there watching out for us. I must say, Jonas, Cara's brother, was a great guy too and I would love to see him featured in his own story! Page-wise this looks like a smaller-type book but story-wise it's a full-length, edge-of-your-seat, can't-put-it-down tale you won't want to miss! It's definitely going on my keeper shelf.

This was just a feel good romantic story. I just enjoy reading books by this author, Wendy Davy. They all have a good romantic twist to them, but they also come with a good lesson to learn in each story.

Jordon is concerned about her widowed mother who has found someone to love again and how quickly her mother seems to be moving on the wedding plans. Jordon is indeed a very "reluctant bridesmaid" and arrives at her Mom's soon to be new home intent on getting her Mom to stop the wedding and give this new relationship more time. Jordon didn't plan on liking Tanner, the son of the man her Mom is planning to marry, but after getting to know him, she finds she can confide in him her misgivings and he seems to care and understand. Tanner offers her very good advice about taking her concerns to the Lord and trusting in Him to change things in her or in the upcoming marriage. You can quickly see feeling for each other growing, but it isn't easy for either one of them to trust their feelings.

I liked the honest feelings Jordon had about her Mom's sudden wedding plans. I felt they were very honest and very real. I also liked Tanner's sensible and good spiritual advice he gave to Jordon and also his open and honest reasons for wanting to find the "right" woman for himself. Both these people were very easy to like and appreciate. It was just a nice romantic story, with a little unexpected scene near the end that could have had a whole different ending if the people involved hadn't learned the importance of forgiveness. I enjoyed reading this story and found myself finishing it in one day!
