5610. Justice in the Mountains Stories and Tales by a Vermont Country Lawyer, by Deane C. Davis (read 21 Jan 2019) This is a book published in 1980. Its author was Governor of Vermont from 1969 to 1973. It is a unpretentious book, with 'stories' and tales of the author and others, usually not over 4 pages in length . Some of the stories are aimed to be funny, but I only laughed aloud once in reading the book, . The reading took about two hours and many of the tales are pretty bland and some are kind of standard, like the one where the author successfully got a witness to say the defendant was the guy sitting next to the lawyer in court when of course that was not the defendant. I have read (on 16 June 1945) a book by Vermont's Senator Aiken (written while he was Governor) and on 7 Mar 2017 a book by Vermont's Governor Kunin, both of which were more substantial than this book.… (plus d'informations)
