This book introduces Montessori principles and shows how to apply them in the home for toddlers. The overview was interesting, and the book had a number of good tips. However, it was repetitive. Chapters had repeated content. Even worse, within chapters the same content would be presented in the text as a list then in a sidebar as a list with nearly identical content. I also felt that only the first five chapters really had a Montessori focus. The rest of the book was fairly general parenting advice through a Montessori lens. That said, chapter two (Montessori principles), chapter three (Montessori activities), and chapter four (setting up the home) were worth reading, so I still give the book two stars.… (plus d'informations)

I definitely got some good tidbits and ideas to implement with my 2.5 year old son. I really appreciate how much trust and independence is given to the child, it was a great reminder that our children are so much more resourceful than we may think at a young age.

Seems like a very good resource; I wish it had been published a few years earlier. My kiddo is already 4 and, as the title indicates, this book focuses on the toddler stage.

Books (p. 48-49)
The Montessori philosophy is to wait until they are over 6 years old to introduce fantasy, when they begin to understand the difference between reality and fantasy.

I loved this book a lot, i'd like to share how it influenced me. 1) I like to observe my child more to see what she is interested in and is currently trying to master (such as puzzles) and then provide more chances to practice this which will result in developing concentration. 2)I am trying to provide a decluttered environment with only a few activities neatly organized and presented in trays and a bookshelf with only a few books on display, so I have tried only putting 3 books on display on the book shelf with the rest of the books either in the closet or put away for storage to be rotated later on and 3-4 activities are out (such as plastic building blocks, easel for drawing, magnetic trains and puzzles). 3) During her play/work period block, I try to stand back and observe and help only as little as possible and interrupt only if necessary while she is doing an activity (even talking too much) but to let her be engaged in the activity and if she looks at me, to then respond and engage. 4) I've added a plant in the work room so hopefully she will take care of it.… (plus d'informations)
