The second book in the Redemption Series had me turning pages quickly.
Misunderstandings, doubts and uncertainty are hard on anyone, but to Ginny and Luke it caused so much turmoil that almost cost them.
A brilliant story that combines adventure, faith, romance with a good dose of suspense within one book.
I liked how much the characters stay intertwined, creating a family saga, with Rachel and Dax still a big part of the plotline.

There were a few times I wanted to stop reading because of the too slow pace and the continual change of point of view throughout the story. But each time I wanted to, something intrigued me about the plotline, and I continued reading. The ending of the book made it worthwhile and now I am glad I kept going. Who knew a General-Texas-Ranger-Rancher could be so romantic?

I understand there are twenty books in the series, and I am not sure if I will continue, though the end definitely made me curious. And I would like to know about Luke's story too. I am way too curious for my own good.

Two Texas Rangers set out with a friend to catch a murderer. When Pat Hanes dies during a shootout, it was up to Dax and Luke to take him to his range in Montana. It was Hanes' last and final request to be buried on his ranch close to the Redemption Mountains. Though reluctant to go at first, the two brothers' integrity made the choice for them.
Each man had its own fears and reasons for living the life they did. Both veteran soldiers, Dax a former General, and Luke a former Major. Both come from a privilege life in Savannah but the war had changed life as they knew it and were looking for something different.
Once in Splendor, however, they realised that Pat Hanes will have another surprise for them. This changed their lives completely.

Rachel Davenport lived through the horrors of war and was a qualified nurse. When her uncle asked her to join him in Montana, she didn't think twice about it. Living the life of a socialite in Boston was not something she was looking forward to, so when the opportunity knocked at her door, she grasped it with both hands.
The small town of Splendor was nothing like Boston, but soon she settled into a good life, helping her uncle in the clinic. When Dax Pelletier rode in, life changed once more for this headstrong woman.
The romantic spark between the two singed throughout the plotline. Everyone knew something was happening between the two. But, as with all romance novels, they refuse to accept it.

Revenge, redemption, new beginnings, it centered on this town. Life was hard and difficult, and when the town sheriff was murdered, the suspense became almost unbearable. With hardened criminals looking for revenge, a wealthy rancher that wants more land and two brothers not sure they want the responsibilities, the plotline became very busy.

Each character had a choice to make, looking past their own fears to find peace in the territory of Montana and find the strength to move forward. Though difficult to read at times, I found the story very encouraging and the characters believable.

Attorney, Cara Mortensen left Coronado and moved to Liberty Lake, home to the Eternal Brethren Motorcycle Club, after the death of her husband. Caid McCord, also known as Wrath, leads the MC which is actually a group of SEALS who have gone undercover in order to stop illegal trafficking by other MCs in the area. When Cara meets Wrath, she feels an attraction that she hasn't felt since her husband, but Cara has negative instincts regarding Wrath and the MC even though she worked for a similar organization before. Wrath begins to break down the walls that Cara has built, but when the Night Devils MC attacks the Brethren, Wrath realizes that his relationship with Cara has put her in danger.

Steadfast does a good job of establishing the Eternal Brethren MC and introducing several characters. Unfortunately, the romance and suspense suffer in this book because it is too short to do it all well. Characters feel one dimensional due to a lack of development and the plot seems very superficial and flat, lacking the layers that could have added more to this story. Additionally, scenes are cut short or left out all together, making the story feel awkward at times. However, the story does hold interest and comes to a satisfying conclusion, with a small cliffhanger thrown in. Overall, Steadfast does what is necessary to introduce the Eternal Brethren series but not much more.

My Review

To me from the beginning this story did not feel believable. Several things felt out of place. This book deserves to be rewritten.
