Phillip B. Davidson (1915–1996)

A short book, just over 200 pages, that gives some very interesting background to the American effort in Vietnam. The author was in 1967-68 the chief military intelligence officer at MACV. He gives details on a number of controversies that arose and why things went wrong. He details the Communist idea of Revolutionary War and how they used it, unfortunately he also makes it clear that hardly any American knew or understood the concept. Finally he gives ideas on how victory could have been achieved, while better than what happened it just doesn't ring true. Well worth reading as it gives details on both sides that aren't understood even 40 years after he wrote this book.… (plus d'informations)
