"Because of what you are, the Believers will hunt you down "

That first line in the synopsis is what made me want to read this book, and I'm glad I did. Full disclosure: I didn't read the first book of this series, but I was able to follow along very easily. A group of teen psychics are being hunted by a fanatical church (cult) called The Believers, whose sole goal is to kill all of them because they consider them unnatural and dangerous. They don't just kill them though - they kidnap them and torture them to try to understand their powers so they can use that knowledge to fight fire with fire. They are about to find out, though, what happens when a group of very angry psychics decide to fight back.

This book had a lot of characters to try to remember but they were each well written and unique, so I didn't really have a problem with it. The powers the kids had were very interesting and again, very unique to each person. It was a very quick read because the pace moved along swiftly, and the ending was satisfying.

4/5 stars.

I thought that this was a very well-done book. I am a mystery thriller fan so this book appealed to me from the start but I somehow neglected reading it for years. I feel bad about that because this turned out to be a very enjoyable read. The story opened with a bang and I was hooked early on. I am so glad that I finally picked this book up.

Ryker and his team are trying to find a serial killer that has been dubbed the Totem Killer. This killer creates a totem out of the body parts of the victims. The newest creation displays a whole body at the top and Ryker and his team feels that this victim is the key to finding the killer. Ryker and his team split up with Ryker following the trail to Alaska where things become even more intense. The team knows they need to find this victim before more victims are displayed.

The book had some pretty big twists and turns and while I guessed a few that did not hinder my enjoyment of the story. I really liked that the story did keep me guessing and had plenty of action to keep the plot moving forward. I liked Ryker and thought that his extra abilities added a nice element to the overall story. I did like the characters quite a bit and enjoyed seeing their relationships develop over the course of the story.

I would recommend this book to others. I thought that this was a well-done mystery that kept me turning the pages as quickly as possible. I wouldn’t hesitate to read more of this author’s work in the future.

I received a digital review copy of this book from Cosas Finas Publications via NetGalley.

This is a very odd book, although the premise is interesting. Lucas, Reign, and Mia are brother and sisters who have lost their parents. Mia has had Lucas confined to a mental institution due to the voices he hears in his head. Reign is an emancipated seventeen year old. When Lucas escapes from the mental institution, Mia and Reign are both desperate to find him for very different reasons. Lucas finds himself with a group that has "auras" that show in indigo blue. They call themselves the "Indigo Children" and think that Lucas is a "Crystal Child." Reign, in her search for Lucas, also meets Gabe, who may also be a "Crystal Child." All of the Indigo Children have powers that include some kind of psychic ability. The group that they are running from wants to harness these psychic abilities.

Indigo Awakening is the first book of a series called The Hunted that does show some promise. This book is really just the beginning of the story, introducing characters and problems that will be faced in future books. There is lots of action in this story, and it is fairly gritty for a teen book - including the amount of unnecessary profanity used. I'm hoping that the next book in the series, Crystal Storm, is better than the first.

Two years ago when a girl died, she betrayed the boy she loved and she lost everything. Although cleared of any involvement in the murder by the police, that didn't stop her small town of assigning her the guilt. After all it was well known that she was close with the Indian boy who had committed the crime. A white girl should have known better then to get involved with an outcast half-breed Indian, so any trouble she got she brought on herself.

Having spent the past two years in Carolina she had done her best to run from her past, from what had happened to her and what she had done. Now with her grandmother's death she is forced to return to the small town that was once home, that was once hell. Returning she has found many ghosts from the past waiting for her and without facing her fears, without her willingness to sacrifice for those she loves, she will never escape her past and nor will the boy she loves.

In The Arms Of Stone Angels Brenna has always found a peace, a second home where she can lay her head and find comfort amongst the dead. A girl who has always felt like an outsider, shunned and scorned will find strength in her uniqueness and an ability see what others can not. A dark mystery of murder, betrayal and jealously that is emotionally charged and completely absorbing. A must read for all ages.
