Unfortunately, it is outdated and for the most part limited from a 19th century British perspective. However, it must have been a good book in its time since subjects covered, although very basic, are put in an interesting light. It is also interesting to note that at the end of the book, his last few paragraphs - some quotes by an R.W. Dale and his own closing remark in the last paragraph (pp.555-557) - are appropriate for today. I'd suggest, if you can get it for a few dollars ($10.00 or so), while it may not be an astounding read and it is outdated (my issue is 1897), the manner in which the author brings out some of the issues regarding doctrine may, at times, make you stop reading and ponder.… (plus d'informations)
