A gripping tale, sure, albeit slightly predictable. One thing I particularly loved about this
book was the portrayal of honest feelings of the protagonist. Be it a feeling of misplaced
anger that her lover is dead whilst her innocent husband lives or the lack of distrust when
suspicious gaze turns towards her husband. She tends to wear her heart on the sleeve. It
was a nice characterization of the fickle human emotions. The motive behind the murder
was succinctly explained, leaving no doubt in the reader’s mind. After all, hell hath no fury
like a woman scorned. But the base is age old, making the story slightly predictable. While
reading, I had two theories in mind, either it was the husband and the best friend, or the
husband and the assistant. Both felt quite plausible but towards the end I started leaning
towards the former theory, however, I did not expect the woman to be the judge and
executioner alone. This, I believe, was an exemplary climax to this riveting tale. However,
one question remains, with both the victim and the puppeteer being present on the scene,
who clicked the picture on the bridge.
Although the ending felt a little rushed, I believe, this story has potential to have an
amazing sequel, because ultimately, the killer destroyed the lives of three different women
in her quest to get the man she thought she deserved. These women can still turn the tables
and emerge victorious. Greater the fall, grander the ascension.

This book was very slow in the beginning but picked up speed about halfway through. However, I couldn't get past some of the plot twists. They just seemed too implausible. Imogen/Amy, a teenager, was just too ready to love and trust a man she never met before, who drugs and keeps her captive for days in a retched shack in the middle of nowhere, even if he claims to be her brother. And her evil sister, Jemima, is unrealistically cunning and smart for a twelve-year-old. The rest of the story was creepy yet intriguing.… (plus d'informations)

Well, "The Guilty Wife" certainly kept me on my toes! It was filled with suspense and I found myself desperately trying to solve the crime along with Bethany, the accused killer. Although I didn't like her that much, I knew she wasn't the murderer so I was keen for her to find out who did kill Calum.

Yes, there were holes in the plot, undeveloped secondary characters and some contrivances, but "The Guilty Wife" had me from the first page with its short chapters, nail-biting suspense, twists and turns and addictive storyline. An entertaining read.… (plus d'informations)
