This is a study of how "Yahweh as refuge" is central to the theology of psalms. Creach examines the word field of related words, discusses their metaphorical significance, and the placement of refuge psalms in the Psalter. His argument is that all of Psalms taken together are meant to get us to seek God as our refuge, and this is seen in the organization of both the individual collections and in the final form of the Psalter.

I offer no evaluation of his thesis, except to say it was helpful to me preparing a sermon on one Psalm (Psalm 91) and seeing how it relates to its surrounding Psalms and the wider Psalter.… (plus d'informations)

This is one of the most readable of the Joshua commentaries. I think if you are going to preach Joshua, this would be a good resource. It is suggestive and challenging in a few places and Creach has some interesting reads on some of the stories. The weakness of this commentary is that it is so short. So whereas Creach has some provocative arguments, he really doesn't develop them. So good for preaching, but not so good for deep exegesis, unless you want to use this as a springboard into deeper research.… (plus d'informations)
