Marie Coutu has a beautiful way of revealing character through relationships. The role of second wife and stepmother is hard for any woman (ask me how I know), but there’s also the understandable tension between the new wife and the late wife’s mother, who’s been watching her grandchildren. Add in the responsibility of being First Lady of Tennessee and watch the fireworks!

Coutu unravels and re-tangles Shawna and Hunter’s marriage with each disappointment. Can they survive all the secrets and scandal? I’ll never tell, but you will love getting to know both of them.

I received a copy from the author in exchange for my fair and honest review.

The account of Queen Esther has always been one of my favorites. Although there are lots of strong women in the Bible, Esther's character's courage was born out of fear. Marie Coutu has brought that story to life in this contemporary Women's Fiction novel. And it was very different than I imagined. Even if I had not known the Bible story, Coutu's writing would have pulled me into the story. Ellen lives in a dream -- right out of Lifestyles of the Rich and Famous. But she has a secret that she cannot tell anyone, not even her husband. When she sees her cousin at her husband's job, she fears her secret will come out and ruin her fairy tale life. But there's more at stake.

Coutu has a real gift for creating a story world. She took me from Ellen's beautiful world of privilege to the garbage heaps in Guatemala. And the storyline was great. There were secrets, intrigue, corporate espionage and corruption. But the moral thread throughout was the most compelling, reminding us that we are in our present circumstances (no matter how pleasant or horrible) for a reason. And that God uses us to help others, no matter if we are "broken."

I received a copy of For Such a Moment in exchange for my fair and honest review.
