It's 1815 and an Inquiry Agent - Mr. Knighton Gaunt - is employed at a house party to expose a spiritualist - Miss Prudence Barnard - as a fraud.
Unfortunately murder happens to prevent this. Can Mr Gaunt discover the murderer while unearthing all the guests secrets before they strike again.
This is the first of a series which I look forward to reading the next.

With very little involvement of the Second Sons Inquiry Agency it is left to Lord Castlemoor to find the evidence that his uncle - Sir Edward - did not kill his lady friend - Lady Banks. It would seem a game is being played out with the arrival of roses just before a murder occurs. How many more roses will be sent until the guilty culprit is discovered.
Enjoyed the story and like the characters, wondering now with the third in the series whether there will be more of the Inquiry Agency or a lone detective.

1821. Injured Captain Nicholas Ainsley, needs an occupation to help him cope with his nightmares from the war. He is finally offered the position of an Inquiry Agent, and after time spent in paperwork he is given the case of the murder of an Earl.
An interesting and well-written historical mystery, with a very likeable Captain, and with a hint of romance.

Elspeth with her mother and aunt are attending a house party at Chiswick Hall, owned by their neighbour Charles Chiswick. Unfortunately he is soon killed. Elspeth is determined to uncover the killer.
Didn't really take to Elspeth and I did determine the killer. But still an enjoyable read.
