This was a hard story to put down once I started it! It had mystery and romance and included the people you will come to love from the first three books in this series (which I recommend you read in order, although they can each be enjoyed as a stand alone story). This dealt with the issue of being able to forgive someone who has done a horrible deed, been sent to prison for it, did his time, has become a changed person and now wants to come back home. Can the town accept his being a changed man since coming to believe that God has washed away his sins and he is a new believer? The person he hurt has forgiven him and given him a job in her restaurant. The pastor of the town stands behind him, knowing he is a new creation in Christ. But can Grace Ellerton every really trust him, while her heart says one thing, the strange things coming up missing in town all point to this man, Adam Pearson. I was thoroughly caught up in this story from the beginning when Grace and her friend pick up Adam along the road and offer him a ride, to the very end, where you wonder if Adam will once again have to go back to prison. It got the heart a pumping a few times near the end.

Excerpt from the book: "He knew he had gained redemption of his sins through Jesus Christ, but until Jesus came to take him home to heaven, Adam had to find a way to redeem himself in the eyes of Atlanta's citizens. In the eyes of his mother, He had been such a disappointment to her his entire life and now that he wanted to make it up to her, he didn't know how he could." You will find Adam dealing with this very issue all the way through this book. I found myself understanding why the folks would be very skeptical to trust Adam, but also found myself knowing it was the right thing to do. A very thought provoking and difficult situation to find oneself in. But as the title says, we are all "Saved by Grace". I highly recommend this whole series by Amy A. Corron. You will come to enjoy the Northwoods and the people who live there. Although I must say the Sheriff Nate Sweeney started to bother me a bit by his harsh treatment of Adam. In the other stories he was not nearly so "annoying".

This was a nice Christmas story centered around the people you have come to love in the "Northwoods Adventure Series". Kelly is the owner of the hair salon in the quiet town in Northern Michigan and she is feeling a little lonely because her parents are in Chicago and her brother has moved to California. So one night she decides if she was a "wishing on a star" type girl she would wish for someone to spend Christmas with. Enter Trevor who is visiting family and who has been told Kelly in an "ice queen" and isn't interested in dating. Trevor takes the challenge to thaw out this ice queen in the week he is in town.

I liked the way this story incorporated the folks from the first three stories in this series (Emma's Promise, Penny from Heaven and Help Me, Rhonda). I liked the small town feel and I really enjoyed watching Kelly and Trevor have fun and get to know one another in a very short period of time. I also enjoyed the way the author wove into this story the need in both of their lives for the Lord and how He is what is most important in their life for true peace and happiness. It was a very enjoyable story to read during the Christmas Season and I look forward to reading another story in this series soon, "Saved by Grace". I encourage everyone to read all the stories in the order they were written (although each story is also great as a stand alone).

Adam Pearson is on his way home after ten long years in prison. He's not sure returning to his hometown is the best idea but he would like the opportunity to show his mother, and the town, that God really can change a person; even someone like him. Dr. Grace Ellerton has just earned her doctorate in psychology when her best friend, Jillian, suggests they take an adventurous vacation. While traveling, they run across Adam walking along the road and ask if he'd like a ride. He reluctantly accepts, and they take him home. Jillian and Grace decide to stay in the area for the summer and rent a cottage. That's where Grace learns about the ranch that wants to help troubled kids. They need a psychologist and Grace realizes that God brought her here. Adam is trying hard to keep his foot on the narrow path and 'let his light shine' but it isn't long before trouble arises that puts Adam under suspicion. Grace wants to believe in Adam's innocence but she has trust issues. Adam warns Grace that one of the boys she's trying to help is not safe and admonishes her to be cautious. Can Adam protect Grace? Can Grace keep Adam from going to prison again? Most importantly, can they learn to trust God through even their darkest moments?

WOW! What a powerful story! I could not put it down. I was so happy to see this author writing again and when I realized this was part of the Northwoods Adventures Series, I knew I had to read it right away. Adam Pearson is a teen you meet in book one (Emma's Promise) of the series. He's one that you strongly dislike because of what he does to Emma. Can God really change a cold, black, angry heart? We easily say that He can, but do we really believe it? How do we then accept the return of that person into our midst? That's really what 'Saved by Grace' explores. I thought the author did a fantastic job of bringing to light all the feelings and emotions that would surround that type of situation, from both Adam's perspective as well as those around him. Emma has been a favorite character of mine and in this story she shines bright once again; living out what she says she believes. We should all strive to be like Emma. Grace was an honest and genuine person; you could see why Adam was drawn to her. I have to say, one character I was really disappointed in was Nate Sweeney, a local police officer. You also meet him in Emma's Promise and he appears throughout the series. I always liked Nate but here I found him to be harsh and quick to judge, especially for someone who says he's a Christian. Then again, can't we also be that way? If you're looking for a great story with living, breathing characters and a powerful message of hope, then I highly recommend Saved by Grace. Actually, I recommend the whole series (Emma's Promise, Penny from Heaven, Help Me, Rhonda, Winning Becca and Saved by Grace). This author has an easy writing style that will draw you into the story and hold you there until the very end. Great job Amy!!!

What a great story. It was one that just kept you wanting to read one more page. The story centers in a small town where Emma grew up. After some years away, she came back and settled down there and used some inheritance money to buy a house and a shop that she made into a tea room. Then her mom calls one day and says that their old neighbor's nephew is coming up there to fix up his uncle's cabin and recouperate from a bad accident. Enter Tyler McGillis. From the first they are attracted to each other but both are very cautious and both realize that he will be leaving at the end of summer.

Then...Things start happening to Emma. At first the police deputy, Nate Sweeney (who likes Emma) thinks that it's just some kids doing harmless things. But with each incident it gets a little more intense. Tyler finds himself wanting to protect her but not wanting to open his heart.

A few people think that it is strange that all these bad things started happening when Tyler arrived in town. Emma can't bring herself to believe it. And who is that person who keeps watching her?

This is a story about tragedy, healing, love, faith and trust. It is a well written story that keeps you turning pages and falling in love with the people of the town with every page.

A keeper for my shelf. One I would read again.

This is Book 1 in the Northwoods Adventures. Book 2 is Penny from Heaven and Book 3 is Help Me Rhonda.
