Lorna Jane Cook

An easy to read novel based on the premise that the lives of the three main characters can be observed through heaven's windows by the characters' parents. The novel's strength is the development of each of the children's flawed lives. Cook creates interesting characters with flaws that make them utterly believeable. A weakness of the novel, however is the idea that the parents can observe them and remain in such serene surroundings (heaven). As a parent, this just doesn't seem concievable to me. I adored this book. It was a wonderful story of three siblings, Alice, Griffin and Dinah, figuring out their place in life without the guidance of their parents. Their mother died in a freak accident when they were young children. Years later, tragedy strikes again and their dad dies of a heartache. Lovingly raised by grandma, the we meet these characters again as adults. Unbeknownst to the three siblings, they are tenderly watched by their parents from Heaven or Here as it is referred to.

Each of the siblings has a situation or story that we are introduced to. The passages and chapters flip from one sibling to another. They were all likable and yet at the same time, flawed. It made the story seem so real. I loved it.

I never expected to pick up this book and feel like I could not put it down, but that is what happened to me. I devoured it in just days, and am off now to see what else this amazing author has written. I highly recommend this book! I looked at other reviews and don't understand why there were so many low ratings.… (plus d'informations)
