Courte biographie
Farah Cook was born in Denmark, in the land of the Vikings. She grew up in Copenhagen, and had a rich and highly imaginary childhood spending most of her time outdoors. At the age of twelve, she began writing several short stories to fuel her passion for storytelling. Farah graduated with a BA in Social Science from Lund University in Sweden and MA in Arts from London Metropolitan University. She has lived in many countries, including Germany and New Zealand, but settled in London where she worked as a marketing manager for large financial conglomerates. Her passion for storytelling remained, and at night she started to write all the things she’d imagined, and her novel City of Skies is the first book in the Viking Assassin Series. Farah lives in Guildford, just outside London, with her husband Christopher, and their two sons Benjamin and Noah. She speaks six languages fluently including Danish, Swedish and German, and writes full time while doing her MA in Creative Writing at Surrey University. Standard young adult novel. Is clearly part of a series, but mainly wraps up book one, so that I read it as a stand alone.

While there are several noticeable grammar errors (incomplete sentences, wrong words used etc), the writing flows fairly well for the main part. Many plot points are repeated over and over (such as the lead character's main objective being to find her father), which can be tedious, particularly when nothing related to them happens in this book.

It was an easy enough read, but rather average in sum with the usual cast of semi developed characters, places and aims, you would expect.… (plus d'informations)

Free Will

Free Will

Every step you take, comes from a decision you made or from a decision someone else (or society) made for you?
Can you decide your path when your future is already determined? How far does your free will goes? Can you make choices in which the outcome has not been determined by past events? Is determinism necessary for free will, arguing that choice involves preference for one course of action over another, requiring a sense of how choices will turn out?
Is your future already determined by your past, society, destiny or premonitions?
Norah tries to make her own decisions in a world where her path seems to be pre determined.
How far can she go? How much can she decide about her own life and future?
What would you do if you would be Norah? Who would you trust?
This book is thought provoking, magic and a page turner.

I am looking forward to read the next book.
