Courte biographie
The comtesse de Vidampierre, recognized as a talented writer, poet, and friend of Voltaire and the comte de Tressan, published several of her works around 1770. However, her true identity is still ambiguous. She may have been Marguerite Floquet, daughter of the butler of Stanislas Leszczyński, the exiled king of Poland, who married Jean-Joseph Antoine de Cardon de Vidampierre. She may also have been Anne-Marguerite de Cardon de Vidampierre (1718-1778), daughter of Jean-Philippe de Cardon de Vidampierre and his wife Françoise Gabrielle-Eugénie Capisuchy Bologne. Anne-Marguerite was a maid of honor to the Duchess of Lorraine and is said to have kept her title of comtesse de Vidampierre after her marriage to Joseph-Jean-François-Alexandre de Rosière. Both women were born and raised at Stanislas's court in Lunéville, the capital of the French province of Lorraine. The comtesse de Vidampierre's writings are still in print in an edition called Mélange de poésie et de prose.
