A master of disguise murders several people associated with the arts. I found it a bit far-fetched that the villain was able set up such elaborate props without being noticed.

Some of usual crime procedural tropes present, but well handled with a clever plot around very unusual murders. Local Leeds locations well used.

Impious. Ray Clark. (Book 8 in the DI Stewart Gardner Series). 2022. I didn’t enjoy this book enough to go back and read the previous 7. The police work to solve a series of grisly murders following the clues the murderer leaves. The book jumps around, and in the end, several loose ends were left dangling, I think or else I wasn’t paying attention. There wasn’t any character development either. The murders were clever and a good writer could have made this an intriguing book. Skip it.

DI Gardener and his team investigate when a body is discovered in a basement, in a horrible way to die. But this will not be the last. Who are the guilty party and what could the motive possibly be.
An interesting and well-written crime story
