Each book is designed to bring alive not only the sights of the last century, but also the sentiments―whether those of a young actress telling her family that she’s landed a job with Rudy Vallee’s revue, or of an army corporal letting his friend know that he’ll be discharged by Christmas 1941.
She’s always been the plain, supportive non-boyfriend friend to two jet-setting, rich, Paris Hilton wannabees and she has also supported their respective boyfriends in times of crisis. The voice of this book- written entirely in instant message form- is really interesting. I'm sure we'll see many more books in this style in the coming years. I really like the heroine, who learns how to stand up against the rumor mill and social pressure of the high school environment. It was a fun read that I will definitely recommend to my students.
