An autobiography of its time but none-the-less a useful read for anyone with an interest in Naval history. Chatfield was beside Beatty at Jutland and it was he to whom Beatty said "There seems to be something wrong with our ships this morning". That he was Beatty's Flag Captain implies enough, but there are numerous key inventions, improvements and decisions that Chatfield was instrumental in that proved vital to the Royal Navy and whilst one needs to have some understanding of the Navy to realise the import of, for example, suggesting and then trialling controlling the guns from "up top", if you are of that bent it's a book full of treats.… (plus d'informations)
