Longer review later, but what fun this was! Owl is refreshingly upfront about why she does what she does (its for the money) and I'm honestly intrigued by the supernatural world she's getting unfortunately caught up in (Japanese dragons!!).

Also cat on a leash that's potty trained on the toilet and sense vampires. Guys...guys come on. I need one.

Have just finished reading this… and damn it, the next one is not out yet. There is a word in the book that I need to know the meaning of.

Other than that, I really like this series. This is book two of Alix’s adventure and well worth a read.

I have no idea when book three is out.. but I hope its soon.

A solid 4 stars!

The Adventures of Owl is a favorite urban fantasy series of mine. I quite enjoy reading about Alix "Owl" Hiboux adventures.

In this, the third book is she both trying to find the creators of World Quest, the online RPG she loves and at the same time is she "hired" (let's say the dragon she works for is quite adamant that she should locate it) to find the Electric Samurai, a mystical armor that binds itself to whoever wears it. The problem is that it has been centuries since the last wearer died, and no one knows where he is buried. But, Owl is quite famous when it comes to finding things, so together with her boyfriend Rynn and her RPG partner and once friend Carpe, and her beloved cat Captain will she try to find this armor.

I think that this is probably so far the best book in the series, the hunt for the Electric Samurai armor was thrilling and as a BIG Indiana Jones fan do I love books that combine archaeology with a lot of action. And, adding the famous legendary lost city of Shangri-La to the mix was a brilliant move by Charish. Could it really be that the creators of World Quest are hiding there? And, if they are, how to get there? Also, I really like Carpe, but he has to stop being such an idiot.

It's hard to write this review without giving too much away, so I will just end the review by saying that I think Kristi Charish has surpassed herself with this book, the last part is fabulous with a fantastic cliffhanger that makes me eager to get my hands on the next book!

I want to thank the publisher for providing me with a free copy through NetGalley for an honest review!

Owl is back!

I have wanted to read the next book in this series since I read the first book; Owl and the Japanese Circus. And, I'm quite pleased to say that the story is even better in this book. That doesn't mean I didn't enjoy the first book. But since the introduction to the supernatural world and its beings had been dealt with in the first book could this book focus more on the continuation of Owls adventures and less getting to know the characters and all the supernatural stuff.

Someone is impersonating Owl and stealing objects and now it seems that the person has stolen cursed objects that kill whoever touches them. Owl must now steal them back and clear her name. Thankfully she has help from her best friend Nadja, Owls boyfriend Rynn and, of course, her cat Captain. Also, in this book, we finally get to meet Carpe face-to-face in the real world instead just as a gaming partner to Owl. And, I have to admit, I think he really is my favorite character. Well, he and Captain of course. It's just something special with the hacker elf. I mean I haven't anything against Rynn. But I wouldn't mind some Owl and Carpe action in the future. Also, the messenger Hermes had a small part in this book. I liked him very much too and hope to see more of him in the future. Someone I'm not as sure I like is Rynn's cousin Artemis. I mean I started with liking him, he was so different from Rynn, but in the end. Well, let's say he kind of messed up a bit and that was too bad since I found him to be quite an interesting new addition to the story.

This book was really good, action from the beginning to the end. Plenty of hilarious moments especially since Owl doesn't know when to shut up and keep getting in trouble all the time. I'm looking forward to the next book in the series!

One thing; the cover. I prefer the cover of Owl and the Japanese Circus. I just don't fancy this cover that much. The cover to the first book is just so beautiful, this one not so much.

Thanks to Gallery, Threshold, Pocket Books and NetGalley for providing me with a free copy of this book in exchange for an honest review!
