I read this book years ago so I don't remember the specifics. But, I do remember that I was moved by Celeste's journey to recover from her divorce and how she moved on with her life.

Celeste is a former First Lady of Ohio as the wife of former Governor Dick Celeste. But, Celeste does not deliver a standard political memoir. She doesn't dish on 80s-Ohio Democrats or complain that she no longer at the center of power.

I admit that at first, I was a little surprised and disappointed. However the author delivers a more subtle, personal journey that led her down an unusual path.

Research indicates that Catholics do surprisingly well in their attitudes toward women, but one should remember the groups against which it competes. I was 6 years old when I learned that girls did not get to dress up and light the church candles like my older brother. Nor could I be a priest as an adult. It is a hurt that all Catholic women carry.

While some details from this book faded, I remember the moment a ray flashed upon my soul. Not since I was rejected by the church as a child was my soul shown complete. Celeste wrote that not all Catholic women were sidelined as I was told.

Celeste walked the path that I didn't even know existed. She left the Roman Catholic church and joined an independent Catholic parish in Cleveland. Eventually, she entered the seminary and became a priest.

I will never forget the feeling when the injured 6-year-old inside me leapt for joy. I recommend the book.
