"The Boy Traders: Or, the Sportsman's Club Among the Boers" is a novel by Harry Castlemon, part of the Frank Nelson series. The book follows the adventures of a group of young boys known as the Sportsman's Club as they find themselves embroiled in a thrilling journey amidst the backdrop of the Boer War.

Set in South Africa during the late 19th century, the story revolves around Frank Nelson and his friends, who form the Sportsman's Club. Eager for adventure and exploration, the boys find themselves caught up in the conflict between the Boers and the British forces. They become entangled in a dangerous mission to help their country and aid the Boer farmers who are fighting for their independence.

As the story unfolds, the boys face numerous challenges, including treacherous landscapes, encounters with hostile forces, and the need to rely on their wits and bravery to survive. Along the way, they learn important lessons about courage, friendship, and the realities of war.

Castlemon's book combines elements of adventure, patriotism, and coming-of-age themes, offering young readers an exciting tale of camaraderie and determination in the face of adversity. The story also provides a historical context, shedding light on the Boer War and its impact on the people and landscapes of South Africa.

"The Boy Traders: Or, the Sportsman's Club Among the Boers" showcases Castlemon's knack for creating relatable characters and engaging narratives that capture the imaginations of young readers. Sort of fun to read but I had a lot of trouble with the way dialog was written. I didn't try reading it aloud phonetically to see if that helped. I purchased it primarily to help the museum and to add it to my Charlie Russell material
