The idea to structure and document the design process, the exploration of the design space, is attractive for many reasons. A number of notations and methods were explored in the 1990s, although it turned out that they were often hard to use in practice. The collection by Moran and Carroll provides a useful overview of the main approaches in the field, how they are used and how they work in larger contexts. The organization around tradeoffs reflects the reality of practical work, and the continuous example makes the contents easy to understand. I'm just reading, so I cannot say much yet, but I especially liked the few pages historical overview of usability in software development: concise, informative - good to know the roots of the discipline. So far, five stars.
