Susan says: This is the last book in the series about the Callahan cousins, who go every summer to Gull Island to visit their grandmother. In this book they go to Gull Island for Christmas, and Phoebe really wants it to be the 'proper Christmas' she's never had at home. Luckily the girls and Gee (the grandmother) pull together to make a proper Christmas, with the typical missteps and problems, mostly including their friend/enemy Sloan. Phoebe decides to get her grandmother a puppy for Christmas as a surprise, and that has the potential to turn out very wrong, but the other cousins tell her about it in time. These books really have the feeling of Nantucket, even though Carey claims the island is a barrier island off Rhode Island. They also are warm, caring and fun - full of life's lessons even though it doesn't feel like it. I'm sorry these books are over, as I have enjoyed them.… (plus d'informations)

This book is great!! I liked it a lot because it was based on family and trusting people. It was interesting and a fun book to read. I would reccomend this to all ocean- like people who enjoy summer.

Four twelve year old girl cousins spend the summer on Gull Island with their grandmother, Gee. The divorce of one of the cousins parents, an old family rivalry with another family in town, and sailing in their grandmother's old boat make for an interesting start to the summer. This book is the first in a planned trilogy which is supposed to appeal to girls who like Lizzie McGuire and Nancy Drew books.
