NCLA Review - This scholarly book takes an intriguing new look at the healings Jesus performed and presents the argument that Jesus healed people from psychosomatic illnesses. These people had real physical illnesses and disabilities but with a mental or emotional origin. The premise is that Jesus work ed within the laws of nature and used his charismatic personality rather than supernatural powers. To explain his viewpoint on the healings, Capps references and explains a great deal of psychiatric diagnostic material. The book would especially interest pastors and mental health professionals. Others may find it an intellectually challenging read, but it is well worth the effort. Rating: 4 —AL ( Leighty )192p, paper, WJK 2008, $19.95 [232.955]… (plus d'informations)
