Della Martin was working as head chef for the day at a Lemonde, a trendy uptown New York restaurant, while the current head chef was out on leave. She was asked to go see Table Twelve as they would like to give compliments to the chef for their dinner. Table Twelve was known as the IT table and all of the movers and shakers sit at that particular table. While making her way over she, notices a gorgeous man sitting at the table, but before she was able to meet him, a comotion ensued which prevented her from meeting her guest. Later that evening, the man she was supposed to meet, James Draven, was in a terrible car accident which left him horribly scarred. Della never forgot about him though and she would often have dreams about him wondering what might have happened if they ever did meet that night one year ago. When an opportunity arises to become James’ personal chef and muse in Switzerland, she decides to take the offer.

James Draven was not the same man he was a year ago. After his accident, he became a recluse, never leaving his home in fear of people looking at him in disgust. He didn’t even want to look at himself, so why would he subject other people to the same fate he wished to avoid. His life has become meaningless. He turned grumpy and emotionless, a far cry from the man he used to be. His only saving grace was the dreams he would have of the most perfect woman he had met a year ago. Dreams that left him wanting and needing things he does not think he deserves to have. James feels that he is unlovable and that no one will ever see him as the man he really is underneath all of his scars.

Little did James or Della know that both of their lives were about to change once they meet again.

I have always loved Beauty and the Beast ever since I was a little girl. In fact, it may have even been one of my favorite Disney movies of all time. So, it comes to no surprise that when I read the blurb for DELICIOUS, I knew I had to read James and Della’s story. What came as a shock was the emotional impact that it would have on me. Cybill Cain has such a way with words that really make you feel for her characters and she makes her characters come alive in such a way that you can feel your heart breaking for them. James and Della’s story is simply moving and sends such a powerful message about learning to accept yourself regardless of things that you can not change. James was still the same confident, strong, and sexy man he was prior to his accident and it takes Della to make him realize he is still very much a man capable of love and to be loved. The power to heal someone from the inside and outside is a message that is expertly weaved through the pages of this story.

DELICIOUS is a heart-warming story just perfect for the holiday season. Cybill Cain really knows how to pull on the heart-strings in a perfect tale that should not be missed by anyone. If you are looking for the perfect read with a deeper meaning then make sure you pick up a copy, sit back with a nice cup of hot chocolate and immerse yourself in James and Della’s story.
