This book will give you an excellent insight into the true terror of Mao's reign in China. During a visit to Beijing, I was able to visit the former home of Kang Sheng, which had been turned into a nice guest house on a quiet hutao. Essential reading for anyone interested in the history of Communist China, and a pretty fascinating book even if you don't have a deep background in the subject.
