Travel memoir of the artist's journey to India and Burma, 1906, with his wife. The period coincides with the visit of The Prince of Wales (later Edward VII) and his wife - along with the departure of one Viceroy (Curzon) and the arrival of another (Minto). a nice little period piece, neatly reflecting the author's inner tension between his loyalty to the British Empire and his growing Scottish Nationalism.
Good especially for its descriptions of Burma and of travel for the middle classes in the first decade of the twentieth century
