3.25 stars. i liked this, but can't quite articulate its main point. maybe the resilience of children, or this particular child? she certainly is faced with a lot to handle, and it's just awful what she has to carry. but she does it with grace and i think learns what she is capable of because of it.

it's well written, but could have used just a little more editing for awkward repetition, but otherwise is really well done.

Some books are great and others are horrible, good and bad even. SilkyDreamGirl suffered from being none of these. It was, in fact, just ok.
