Inside the Photograph par Peter Bunnell
Bunnell's analysis of Minor White's "Sequence 10/Rural Cathedrals" blew me away (pp. 101-114).
A wonderfully comprehensive collection of essays about pictorialism (and a few against it) from historic sources.
Superbely produced art book. An excellent biography and the reproduced pictures speak for themselves.
I love the idea of this book, a critical look at a scholar's library. Leave it to Andrew Roth to divine the coolness therein. Peter Bunnell, formerly curator at MoMA and great mentor and curator at Princeton, amassed a library that was filled with noteworthy inscribed copies of mid and late 20th century photography books. The inscriptions tell a marvelous story, as do my 4 autographs and the date on this copy.
