Katie Ann-Marie Bugyis

A very lucid, solid study of the ministerial roles played by English nuns between the tenth and thirteenth centuries. Katie Bugyis makes thorough use of the extant source base to contribute to the historiography on medieval female religious which emphasises continuities and assessing them on their own terms (rather than according to how much they varied from a male default). I'm not so sure that an examination of a Benedictine identity is so central to the book as the title indicates, but this is a minor quibble with an otherwise fine book.… (plus d'informations)
