Richard Buckle's biography of Diaghilev details his life from his childhood in St. Petersburg to his final days in his Paris suite, and a last visit from Coco Chanel. The relationships of a lifetime are intermingled with the excitement of premiere ballets and the revolution of music that Diaghilev helped to make.

This isn't biography, exactly. I can't what it is -- not quite hagiography, although it comes close; it ain't journalism, and it's not criticism. It's not even internally reliable. It's amusing, though!
