This book is rather boring and the story is implausible. He was apparaently so seriously injured in the ambush that the Tonkawa's expected him to die. Yet when he returned to the Rangers they apparently did not believe his story despite his grevious injuries and the horrendous scars that document his injury.
Parker is somewhat dense, managing to get himself captured by the antagonist on numerour occasions. I think it was four times but did not feel like going back and actually counting the number of instances. The author lacks imagination as well as a falir for developing multidimensional characters and bringing scenes and events to action with clever language.
