What a great start to what I expect will be another great series by Marcus Brown! I love the way his stories grab you right from the beginning and hold you there, horrified, but helpless to put the book down!

The Crockworthy family was the target of the Salem Witch Hunts in 1692. With the hunters closing in, they were out of time. With the help of their powers and their powerful mother, the triplets, Tabitha, Talia, and Tamara, were able to escape through time and have lived in peace for the last several centuries. They lead ordinary lives, blending in with the mortals around them. Tabitha is the Chief Inspector for the local police, when gruesome murders begin taking place. Horrifying mutilations. But when clues start to emerge, all signs point to someone sending a grisly message to she and her sisters. Are they once again being hunted? Has their past finally caught up with them? Can Tabitha, along with her friend and medical examiner, Trey, find the person the press has dubbed "The Dark Magic Murderer", before it's too late for them all?

Warning: I suggest you don't eat right before you read this. It's kind of like not going swimming right after you eat because your mother told you that you'll get a cramp and drown. If you've eaten, be sure to allow enough time before you delve in to this one. The crime scenes and the mutilations are described in graphic detail. I'm sure more than once I had a look of utter disgust on my face while reading. But, even so, there was no way I was putting this down. It's captivating. The descriptiveness and terrifying details are what makes Marcus's writing so deliciously horrifying. Can't wait to move on to book 2 and see what happens next!!… (plus d'informations)
