This is my first book by Jenny Brown, so I had no expectations. I read the blurb on netGalley, and thought it intriguing. I've never read a romance story that incorporated the Astrology, so I went for it. Let me just state that after reading it, I'm putting her début book and the first in her Lords of the Seventh House series, `Lord Lightning' on my Wish List and as soon as I get it, it'll go on top of my TBR pile.

This story is so much more than just a romance. The blurb above is only the beginning of this beautifully crafted and executed, heartwarming and heart wrenching love story. The author has taken the time and care in developing, dare I say giving birth, to two characters that literally jump off the pages with life.

I was impressed with its realistic portrayal of humanity of Trev and Tem. The emotions, doubts, second guessing and confusion of their feelings for each other were too real and heartfelt. This is one hundred percent character driven story that will grab you from that first paragraph where she introduces us to this young soldier that's not just lonely, but lost and in search of something that even he doesn't quite know what it is. As he meets and rescues Temperance Smith, his heart battles his mind over the fact that she gave him something no one ever did-the feeling of coming home.

The scene in the alley, when Tem runs away from him, and he's left all alone and humiliated is so raw that brought me to tears. I literally felt his pain and humiliation.

The scene after they're together for the first time is heartbreaking and very emotional. The depth and scope of these two characters made them very human and their road to each other became important to me. That, my Bookworms, is a rare talent in a writer and it's meant to be savored to the fullest! The combination of a fast pace, a believable and intriguing plot with twists and turns kept the story moving for me and at no pint did I ever find myself bored. As a matter a fact, I wished it was longer!

Ms. Brown welcome to my Keeper shelf. I have no doubt you'll be there for quite a while!

I’ve had the pleasure of reading the previous two Jenny Brown books in her Lords of the Seventh House series (“Lord Lightning” and “Star Crossed Seduction”) and I liked both very much. This is Ms. Brown’s third book and it is the Pisces’ turn and out of all three stories, I think I like this one the best.

The above blurb summarizes the story well, so I won’t go into it. Throughout the story Ms. Brown maintains a fast pace and her writing alone will keep you interested and vested in the hero and the heroine as well the plot.

I truly admired the heroine Zoe who was not beautiful at all but sweet, sharp and way too real. She seemingly accepts her faith and yet sets out to carry out a task that would bring about her freedom, or so she thinks.

As for our hero Adam, I truly admired his convictions and determination. He was a man with a single, solitary purpose of accomplishing a task of his own: revenge for the pain done to him nine years before. I thought him perfect for this young woman. They truly personified the notion of opposites attract theory. The read is full of twists and turns; passion and compassion. All in all, wonderful read that will appeal to not just the ‘tortured hero’ lovers, but also to all the ‘ugly duckling’ lovers as well.

You don’t really need to read the other two to keep up with this one, although I highly recommend you do just because the author handles her plots with great care and keeps you entertained throughout her stories.

PERILOUS PLEASURES by Jenny Brown is a historical romance with a bit of magic and a lot of passion. While, this the Pisces book in "Lords of the Seventh House" series it is not linked to the first two stories but can be read as a stand alone.See," Lord of Lightning" and "Star Crossed Seduction". Filled with mysticism, magic, ancient sorcery, revenge, false beliefs, self-sacrifice, deception, romance, mystery and love.Follow Lord Ramsay and Zoe on an adventure of passion, danger and a struggle of good vs evil. Zoe's virginity is needed for an ancient rite,so a seduction is in order.Fast paced with strong and engaging characters and an intriguing plot. A dark tale that proves love can overcome tragedy and vengeance is not always what it is supposed to be. Passion and love can bind two people together. I have enjoyed the "Lords of the Seventh House" and "Perilous Pleasure" was no exception. Received for an honest review from the publisher and Above The Treeline. Details can be found at the author's website,Avon Books,an imprint of Harper Collins Publishing and My Book Addiction and More.

The first book that I haven't finished in a long time. I was looking forward to this book based on the description and the unusual characters. I thought it would be nice to read about individuals that weren't the typical lord and lady of the ton. However, after reading about 100 pages, I just couldn't get into the book. The astrological premise was stronger than I expected and seemed unrealistic to me. There was also a lot of time spent on developing the series rather than the characters in this book. I finally just put it down and gave up. This is the end of this series for me. I'll give the author another shot when this series is over.… (plus d'informations)
