Lois Browne

a fairly in-depth history of the all-american girls professional baseball league. browne mixes interviews and memories of players with a behind the scenes look at how the league worked. a fascinating look into this little known league. i appreciated all of the detail about the games and the way the league was run. more interviews with former players would have been nice.

my only real complaint comes from browne's dealing with the rumors of lesbianism within the league. it's the one place her bias comes through and she writes in a homophobic manner about the topic. this was frustrating to say the least. what could have been a very interesting window into how women were allowed to be true to themselves in a time when there weren't a lot of options instead becomes a poorly written footnote in this otherwise really outstanding book.… (plus d'informations)
