Alphonso Brown

I purchased this after taking the bus tour that Mr. Brown runs in Charleston, Gullah Tours, and a couple of days later, I used it to augment my walking tour of the city. Divided among various districts, it provides information that is not stressed in other tours. For instance, it provides the location of the first African-American law firm in the country, the Freedman's Bank, and other buildings that weren't in other guide books. The book also provides a short introduction to Gullah history, and is written in both Gullah and English. It is very nicely illustrated with photographs, maps and drawings.… (plus d'informations)
