- Eleanor (or Eléonore) Mabel Brougham was a daughter of Henry Charles Brougham, 3rd Baron Brougham and Vaux, and his wife Adora Frances Olga Wells. The family seat, Brougham Hall, in Penrith, Cumberland is a short distance from the ruins of Brougham Castle. She served as a lady-in-waiting to Queen Eugénie of Spain. A group of her letters to Cecil Beaton are in the collections at St. John's College library. A photo of her taken in 1908 is in the Archives of the Victoria & Albert Museum.
