The author discusses three cases of healers that were put on trial; the first two were legitimate faith healers. The third was a psychologist who had some genuinely horrifying ideas and treatments, but I'm not sure it ties into the Faith Healing brand. And the entire discussion of the situation in the third (the psychologist) is horrifying for the behavior she committed that were not seen as ethical violations. Wow.

The book itself was readable and thorough in its discussion of the individual cases, but it could have benefited from a broader perspective, and a tying of the thesis into the broader idea of faith healing. There are discussions of related cases in the first two sections, but they still read mostly like isolated incidents in the overall broad view. Recommended for people who don't think this sort of thing actually happens; for people who are already aware of the problems with faith healing, you're better off reading James Randi.… (plus d'informations)
