There is to be an architectural design contest for an Italian office building with six architects chosen to participate and professor Jamie Ramsgill is to moderate. When the six arrive at the villa, wealthy Renzo Piruzzi changes the ground rules. In two days, the six must design a chapel and tomb for the industrialist. Winner receives a cash prize, a rare book and the prestige. But things start going wrong and architects are found dead. Jamie must solve who is trying to get ahead and his suspects are the still living architects, Piruzzi, his daughter and his "head of household" Franco Cavalliere while staying alive himself.

is the first of the Jamie Ramsgill mysteries, It took me a while to figure out what the title meant and how it related to the plot. And there is a lot of information about architects and how they work that was interesting, especially as this was a subject I knew little about.… (plus d'informations)
