The Boston Academy's Collection of Church Music… par Boston Academy of Music
First version was published in 1836. Purpose: " To Aid in the cultivation of church music". Lower Mason wrote the musical instruction section. The Boston Academy endorsed Lowel Mason" methods. The Academy was founded in 1833. This edition list the officers of the Academy. The music contained in the volume is categorized in 6 classes. Forth class tunes are the most "popular" tunes which lack dignity and majesty of style but are "better adapted to common choirs".
