This college text is very good for mineral identification in thin section. This text has a strong focus on optical principles and crystallograph. The first 236 pages covers that section, leaving the remaining 48 pages for mineral identification. Those 48 pages are charts, tables and graphs.
Kerr's Optical Mineralogy covers three-dimensional determination methods using the universal stage while this text does not. However this text is stronger in the optics and principles of light behavior in minerals. Using both texts togethr is optimal.… (plus d'informations)
